Culture of Life focus: Death Penalty, Prisons, and Torture
Prayer intentions:
- For all prisoners on death row, and for an end to legalized executions.
- For all prisoners who face inhumane conditions of confinement.
- For all prisoners who face torture, and for all persons who have allowed themselves to embrace the torture of a brother or sister enemy for what they believe to be a “higher cause”.
- For all murder victim’s families, and for all victims of violent crime, that each would find grace and peace, and the way of forgiveness.
- For a change of mind and heart in all who believe that retributive justice can offer any positive contribution to the building of a civilization of love.
For reflection: what choices can we make in solidarity with those who are facing execution, torture, or degrading prison conditions?
